Six Senses Ibiza uses Solid State Logic ORIGIN analog consoles in new recording studio

The Spanish island of Ibiza has been a household name since the 1970s as a holiday destination, with its vibrant entertainment program drawing hordes of revelers. Performers include DJs playing electronic music, artists such as the Arctic Monkeys, Lady Gaga and Sting. In June 2022, global luxury resort brand Six Senses launched a recording studio featuring a Solid State Logic ORIGIN 32-channel analog mixer as part of a new expansion of its Six Senses Ibiza resort for artists, production People and DJs provide excellent production facilities.
Six Senses Ibiza's latest development is a spa and wellness retreat on the other side of the Mediterranean island, comprising a range of spacious suites, restaurants, bars and a live music venue. Dubbed The Beach Cave, so named because of the luxurious indoor/outdoor living spaces reminiscent of a coastal cave, the complex was designed in collaboration with owner, architect and real estate developer Jonathan Leitersdorf and hospitality pioneer Ben Pundole.
Danny Ariel of Israel-based retail and design firm D&D/AVARC said the new studio is the only one of its kind in Europe and can also be accessed from the private entrance of the 3,300-square-foot exclusive Royal Suite. Enter. Ariel was the lead designer of the facility, supplying all equipment and overseeing its integration. British architect Roger Darcy provided the acoustic design for the facility.

Ariel decided to install the SSL ORIGIN console in consultation with Asaf Busidan, who was responsible for system integration of the console and auxiliary equipment, as well as network design. Ariel explained: “We knew visiting artists would be happy to see the SSL brand. Plus, ORIGIN delivered the sound quality and reliability of SSL.”

Most important, he says, is the design of the studio. “We thought about musicians who wanted to come to Ibiza and have a studio night. If you are a DJ, producer, artist, musician or singer, you can come to Ibiza with your family or your partner island vacation, and work in the studio at night.” ORIGIN’s intuitive signal flow and simple work layout make it easy to operate, even for those who have never mixed with a large console, allowing you to Put more inspiration into creation.

Ariel says all of the studio equipment was chosen for sound quality, and was designed and installed with ease of operation in mind. Routing to selected outboard processors in the room is possible via workstation interfaces, AD/DA converters and mic preamps. Dynacord and Pioneer DJ equipment are also available. “We chose brands that producers, DJs, artists, and singers all love. From DJs, live instruments to vocals to post-production and film editing, it’s all plug-and-play. You just use a USB cable to connect your laptop."

Roger qusted and Stuart Down provided technical support for the monitoring system, including main monitors, subwoofers and amplifiers. Engineer Shai Sivan was in charge of computers, software and plug-ins, and recording. Recording and mixing specialist Evyatar DietFried Shimoni was in charge of the digital audio portion of the facility. "The team I was with was super professional," says Ariel. "Everyone I chose was an expert in their field."

The new studio includes a venue for sound recordings and can also be used for live recordings. "The living rooms of the five suites are connected to the recording studio for live recording. The nightclub is connected to the recording studio and can be used as a live recording and rehearsal room," says Ariel. The Xarraca Room is the centerpiece of the complex, a 150-seat The venue for everyone, hosting local and international DJs, artists, performers and musicians.

In addition to music specialists in music production and the new studio, the resort hopes to attract film and television professionals, he said. "Six Senses also wants to support local musicians and bands by building these unique facilities on the island." Local Ibiza artists Black Coffee and Red Axes, as well as DJs Victor Calderon and Guy Matzur have all used the venue since its summer opening studio.

D&D not only designed, supplied and installed the recording studio equipment, but also provided AV design and integration for Six Senses Ibiza as a whole. This is Ariel's third project on the island and he specializes in AV design for various entertainment venues, hotels and businesses.
